I'm happy again!

Hey, I just realized that I'm going to be home in time to catch the UofL/UK game! Beautiful. They play the 17th, and I get back the 16th, so Mom and DAd keep Sunday afternoon free for me. Anyways, I should probably go, I'm right in the middle of philosophy right now, and I should probably be paying attention, but I just realized that, and I'm really feeling good now. Have fun...I will be,

This is why I hate the Catholic Church

Allright, I've got a great idea, candidates for priesthood are at an alltime low, we have cases of our supposedly celibate Priests having sex with married women, but hey, I have a great idea, lets blame it on the Gays, and ban them! That will fix everything! Even if you once thought you were gay, but 'repented' and 'saw the light' no sir, not in here, God doesn't want you! And if you're openly gay...well...I know someone who's on the fast track to a first degree sunburn...

This makes no sense to me, at all, unless the catholic church has decided to regress back to the Old Testament, where it says to kill homosexuals of any kind. But in that case, priests cannot wear glasses or use a cane either, and those who did and said mass must be killed as well.

What will this accomplish? And what about those priests who are already openly gay? Are they going to throw them out as well, or just say 'you guys got lucky, but from now on..."?

National Day Resolution

So, another crazy national day done, another stellar performance by yours truely, another sunday after national day spent asleep (I just woke up four hours ago, 1:30, and got out of bed at about 2:30). Anyways, with this amount of slacking, come the realization that I don't really get much stuff done, so I decided to post on here what I accomplish everyday, just as a way of making sure I have a list somewhere of everything major I've done, so that I can point back to it later and say "See! I did so something on Novermber 27th, 2006!" And so, I'm actually going to start yesterday, because it is still fresh in my mind, and I'm fairly proud of it...

I ran 21k, with Tessa and Christy
I ran sound for national day, (several frantic moments there "What, we don't have the music? How much longer does this act go on for? Quick, get me napster!")
I played in national day
I put on a suit, and even got a girl to do my hair
I was up until 4:30 talking to people,
and I played three hours of guitar

today...
I slept until 1:30
I downloaded 100 Star Trek eBooks
I read an entire Star Trek Novel eBook
I did a physics lab, on the relationship between the normal force and the maximum static friction,
I sang in Gospel Choir,
I have Choir and Singers Tonight,
I have some kind of crazy German Ska thing tonight, where I'm playing bass...nevermind that I can't actually play bass as of yet, I've still got a couple of hours to learn...

Other than that, not much, although, I did see Harry Potter on Friday, that was interesting, we had to hike into town, then catach three buses, then stand in line, then slouch down because the theatre isn't stadium seating (I still can't feel my butt), then catch two more buses, then get a taxi back to school, all for a two and a half hour movie, which someone has had probably already downloaded by the time we got back. De hecho, it was fun, and here, btw, are some pictures of yours truely last night on stage. Singing is Waleed, my roomate, Violin is Molly, from BC, Tim is on the Jembe, he is from the Yukon, and Mohhammed is playing the tambourine, he is from Egypt. This song, as I should mention, we put together during the intermission of the actual show, three acts before we had to play it on stage (I learned from the best...what, mom? what? I didn't say anything...) Pues...

And the Artsy one...

Have fun...

This is where I live

This is up on the bluff about 3k away from where I sleep. If you want me to, email me and I'll fire you off the rest of this series, bu I don't want to post them all on here, because they'd take up too much space. Have one more, and then I'm done.

Also, if anyone wants to know more about what I'm doing...

Check out the Link, it's Pearson's online newletter. Apparently, I neglected to tell everyone about it, so check it out. I'm in about seven of the pictures, although I'm hidden from the camera in every single one but the last two. If that didn't make any sense, don't worry, it didn't make any to me either. Anyways, go to www.pearsoncollege.ca, and click on the link underneath the big picture on the left hand side. If you go all the way to the end, you'll find a picture of me, begging for bread. The other people in the picture are as follows...

beginning bottom left to right
Noah (USA), Clare (New Zealand), Aldous (BC), Anna (Norway), Lindsay (Really, really far north), Kati (Finland), Sarah (Switzerland), Amalee (Quebec), Jackie (India),
Back of row
Stacked heads are Nathan (Yukon), Emily (New Zealand), and Cadence (Minnesota)
Then Me, Tim(Yukon), Adam (UK), Michael (Egypt), Lucia (Ecuador), Josh (Ontario), Taylor (BC), Imani (Jamaica), Caroline (Quebec), Cara (Alberta? Definitely Canada).

That's not my house, that's just the people who were there eating bread. Also, I brought Tim and Adam with me, they were playing as well. fun times, I'm really going to go do work now...

Check it out!

Hey, I just learned that apparently, we broadcast our national day performances live over the internet. National days are not in fact days for individual countries, as the name might lead you to believe, but are in fact days for continents and regions to gather together and presnet and share their culture with the rest of us. We already had our North American National Day, too bad I didn't know about this sooner, I would have told everyone. That was fun, remind me to write about it later, but for now, just know that, on November...um...this coming saturday, at 8:00 pm, Pacific Time, you can go to www.racerocks.com and click on live webcams, and then choose camera 4, and it should have a live feed for you. Very cool, eh? I'm only doing one act this time, the rest of the time you won't see me, because I'll be up in the booth, running lights. Have to go, much, much English to do. Have fun...

No, but it helps

So, sorry about that, I'm still going crazy with lack of sleep and way too much work up here, but it's getting better. Or rather, I'm getting slightly more used to it. I have two massive papers due this week, more work for tommorrow, and all kinds of crazy stuff, but gee, isn't it fun. Today I went to the 17th most beautiful spot on the planet, up on this massive mountain next to campus, several kilometres straight up. You can see Seattle, Vancouver, Victoria, the Olympic Mountains, Racerocks, Pearson, and we even saw a submarine crossing the channel next to us. I finished Kitchen duty yesterday, no more pot scrubbing for me until after Christmas. I still need to get some tickets back to PEarson after Christmas, but at least I have mine going home. There are so many people not going home, grrr...I wish I'd have known that, I would have invited more of them back with me. Anyways, life is hectic up her, absolutely a madhouse. One more thing, before I have to go write my English Oral Presentation. We had a guest speaker today, a canadian journalist, whose book is on the top ten bestsellers list, and at one point was fairly close to the top. Very good speaker, has a very, very weird point of view, which, if correct, would tend to make me highly pro-war. I mean, it seemed to make sense at the time, but I was trying to do spanish at the same time and so I couldn't take notes, but the gist of it was that the neo-conservatives who were in power during the first bush administration, and under Reagan, thought that they had found a way to change the world, using the US's power both militarily and economically, like the way that we 'made' the USSR fall. So thusly, they were all ready to spread democracy and freedom and the free-market across the globe, in '92, but then Bush lost. After Clinton, the same people were back in power, and they needed an in, to kickstart their shot at world peace, or pax americana, as it were. 9/11 was a Godsend, so they could invade Afganistan, then they shifted their focus over to Iraq. Basically, what he was saying was, the USA's leaders put out a statement saying, back off, we're changing the rules, we're willing to make the sacrifice to reorder the world into harmony, which to me seems like a fairly good idea. Probably because I'm american. However, this means war, and destroying the 60 year effort of the United Nations, which outlawed war. And then the rest of the world rejected that offer, except Britain, which was dragged kicking and screaming by Tony Blair, and Australia, who sent a Marching band and a plane which couldn't fly high enough to get into Iraq. So...this guy was quite the character, and fairly interesting too, but as I said, I was doing my spanish homework at the time, so...probably a bad call on my part. Anyways, I have much, much, much work to do, sorry about this massive lag time, I'm trying as hard as I can to keep up. Have fun all, see you soon

Homework!

Apologies to all for not posting in a while, I'm thinking that this is going to slip back into a two or three time a week thing instead of everyday. Homework has just picked up, and is suddenly a massive deal, so it's really, really eating my time up. Also, word has gotten around that I will not turn down a chance to play music for anything, so I'm suddenly very popular with people who need accompaniment, or background party music, or anything along those lines. Also, I have kitchen duty this week, so no free afternoons or evenings, I spend three hours a night washing pots and pans and plates and cups and...
That's what eats most of my time, otherwise I'd get a lot more done, but anyways, such is life. Sharon is coming home with me, I don't remember if I mentioned this or not, but we have tickets, so it's official, we'll be back late the 16th. Also, I found this cool webpage, Woogle, which is where some guy took Google's image search, and used it to create this search engine where you type in a phrase, and it pops up with the first result for each word, in sequence, and so it's really cool. Check it out here, http://www.gujian.net/woogle/index.php, and also try out toogle, where this guy creates a picture from words, well...You have to see it, but believe me, it's pretty cool. Anyways, I have massive amounts of work to do, so I'll have to make this one really short. Much love to all, I'm going to go read "God of Small Things", not a particularly good book, or even well written, but one that everyone else here thinks is fantastic. Strangely enough, for the first time in my life, I don't agree. Anyways, I have to read it, take notes, and make a presentation on it on wednsday. Have fun, I'll see you soon,

Sorry Everyone!

So, first off, apologies to all for this ungodly amount of time that I have allowed to fall between posts; it shan't happen again (hopefully). There are no excuses, only reasons, only one of which I can go into as of yet, because this post is required to be curtailled, because of that one reason, indirectly...Let me summarize...no, there is too much. Briefly, we had a massive wind storm, knocked down trees, buildings, etc. and along with those trees and buildings came the powerlines, so for about a day, we were out of power. Before that, I have no excuse for not posting, but since that outage occurred, right as I was thinking about posting on here, I took that as a sign that I should write a letter home, instead. So, all of the things that I was going to put into this post, or rather, that post that I was debating on writing, instead went into a letter which will be sent home on Monday, so I am required now to not “double up” as it were on the goings on here and tell my family about it twice. Apologies to all who read this, but in this case, the family gets to hear this weeks news first. If you must find out, talk to my mother in about four weeks, when the letter gets there. If none of this makes any sense, that's because it's almost midnight here, and I just got done playing about five hours of music, just sitting at a piano, or in this chair in which I currently reside, playing guitar. As you could guess, I'm beat, however, I do have good news, which I am able to share with the rest of the world. Sharon is in fact going to be coming home with me. We got her Visa done and are going to go get health insurance on Monday, so it's all set, Dad's getting the tickets, and on December 17th you can all meet part of Pearson. As a refresher, Sharon is a friend from Uganda, who was going to be crashing at a host family's house in Victoria, but I thought “How boring!” and asked if she wanted to come home with me. She's fun, this ought to be a good time. Allright, other than that, not much else, except I tried to go buy shelving the other day, for my room, and bounced a $23 debit out of my bank card, so I'm broke untill I get home and can make some more hats...This is not a plea for money, I already put that into the letter home, so I can't say that again here...well...I probably could, but I don't I'd get much of a response. Anyways, I'm tired, and going to bed, and my battery is dying, but I'm looking forwards to Christmas, can't wait to see everyone again...Much love to all
Nathan
